LALP Custom Programs

Georgetown University is one of the world’s leading academic and research institutions, offering a unique educational experience that prepares the next generation of global citizens to lead and make a difference in the world. We are a vibrant community of exceptional students, faculty, alumni, and professionals dedicated to real world applications of our research, scholarship, faith, and service. Established in 1789, Georgetown is the nation’s oldest Catholic and Jesuit university. Today, Georgetown sits at the global crossroads of commerce and policy, in Washington DC. While much has changed in 200 years, our mission, which is to prepare and educate leaders whether for business, government, or not-for-profit organizations, remains the same.

Since its first programs launched, the Latin America Leadership Program (LALP) at Georgetown University has aimed to educate, connect, and inspire Latin American emergent leaders in the pursuit of the university’s mission of teaching and service for the common good. LALP collaborates with public, non-profit, and private organizations to design tailor-made leadership experiential programs that respond to each organization's professional development needs and objectives. Programs are implemented on campus, virtually, or throughout the region.

LALP has several distinct advantages when it comes to developing and executing regionally-focused non-degree executive education programs, including:

  1. focus on training leaders to transform the world;

  2. commitment to Georgetown's core values, critical thought, and public ethics;

  3. special affinity with and relationship to Latin America, deep understanding of its current challenges and opportunities;

  4. strategically located in Washington, DC, with access to public institutions and high-level experts; and

  5. network of contacts spanning Georgetown University faculty and researchers, guest lecturers, public, multilateral, private, and social sector leaders, and a growing LALP alumni network spanning Ibero-America.

LALP programs are non-degree executive education and leadership development seminars aligned with Georgetown’s mission of promoting responsible leaders who will make a difference in Latin America and the world through social impact ventures and initiatives. Every year, LALP welcomes diverse cohorts of talented leaders spanning the Latin American and Caribbean region. LALP flagship participants are selected from a large and diverse applicant pool based on their professional experience, personal leadership skills, and potential to make a significant impact upon returning to their home country. The selection process is rigorous and highly competitive, and the selection for admission is a recognition of the participant’s academic and professional accomplishments and leadership capacity. To receive this certificate, participants must attend all academic sessions of the program, actively engage in discussion, participate in program activities, and complete all program deliverables. Upon the program's culmination, LALP flagship participants become part of the LALP Alumni network and collaborate across generations and programs to create a positive impact in the Latin American and Caribbean region.
